Shade turns 1!

For those of you who braved the park last month when it was just remarkably hot, we salute you! As a thank you to those who have been with us from the beginning and due to popular demand, we are headed back to the beach.

The Girls of Shade are turning one in August (the first Shade concept was born from divaDanielle's birthday party at the beach) and we pulled a permit for one last summer bash in the sand with the best in local talent.

On our roster this month a HOOOOOOOOOOOOOJ lineup of bangers, from housey house to dirty prog, this will be a party not to miss.

Due to entanglements with the neighbors and law at the last beach party, we are headed due north to Zuma Beach Tower 2 - we are generally left alone at Zuma and plan to party proper.

As always this is a LEAVE NO TRACE event and ALL COUNTY / CITY BEACH LAWS WILL BE IN EFFECT! If you decide to step outside the law and bring your own booze, we cannot condone such behavior but please be DISCREET (NO BOTTLES!)

I went to two of his concerts in the 80's. Wore the penny loafers, the Thriller jacket, the glove, the socks. I bought it all and wore it all the time in junior high. Relished his music and tried to teach myself his moves. Finally mastering the moonwalk and side moonwalk after hours and hours of practice. He made me want to dance and love music. To this day, I still play his music as a DJ. Thank you Michael for all those wonderful times you gave me. Thank you for the Thriller video that I watched every Friday night with all my friends at the roller skating rink. These are times I will never forget. Thanks for the entertainment! Luv Ya Meenit!

I was still tired from the night before. Went to see Justice at The Mayan and
didn't get back home until 1:30am just to wake up at 6:30am and go to my lousy
day job. Ugh! Work has been draining me, so afterwards I went to the gym to release
my angst. On Tuesdays, I take a abs and butt sculpting class. So, you can imagine
after all this, I was dead tired. Well, my friend, Sheila at Paramount, happened to
have free tickets to the soldout show to see Digitalism on this night. I love them!
I spin their music all the time. Their tickets were going for $150 a pair on Ebay.
I can't so "no" to her. It would be stupid just to go home, lie in my bed, watch
American Idol and just go to sleep. Thank god for I have DVR (and in HD!). Yeah!
At the concert, I stood right behind the soundboard so I can get the best in sound.
The theatre is very small, so there isn't a bad seat in the house. It was a pumping
set along with a cool visual backdrop that draped over their bodies and instruments
as well. I totally had forgotten I was even tired. My feet bouncing up and down along
with the smaller kids around me (it was an all ages show). Digitalism was a hybrid of

The Groovy dudes will be performing not one, but TWO sets, including a couple new tunes. Merlin and Paolo will be spinning and there will be a special guest appearance by our friends Helios Jive, a very cool, eclectic electro/jazz band from LA. There is no cover charge if you know the secret passwords, which are "Groove Bazaar", "Helios Jive", "Merlin" or "Paolo". The place will probably fill up, so don’t be late. RETURN OF HOLLA BACK MERLE!


Yes, I know I have been gone for a while. A lot has been going on and everyone knows doing
a music blogs like this takes a lot of time.

I just had a birthday earlier this month and I took an amazing vacation to
Canyon de Guadalupe, Mexico for Fuente Eterno. This was my second time going.
Great dance music all night long, camping, hot springs, waterfalls and lots of
topless women. And also one hell of a Saturday afternoon pool party.

The week after that, I held my 4th Annual Birthday Bash at The Mountain Bar in
Chinatown. The theme was 80's aerobics. Lots of fun. I just wanted to thank
Rayne Chyld, Steffi V., DJ Paolo and Tony Plamondon for DJing. And upstais we
had two great bands in Cubicle and Stero Blue. The photobooth was a success as
well as you all will see below. I am going to post pictures from both events.

The next few weeks I will do my best to post here and there. I am so super busy.
Looking to change jobs so I can quit the awful one I have now. I miss the entertainment
biz and am trying to desparately to get back into it. Plus, I have gigs almost every
weekend until Coachella comes around. And, man, what a weekend that is going to be.

I hope to see some of you guys next week at The Mayan for Justice and then the next
night at The El Rey for Digitalism.

I am all excited about seeing Hot Chip this Monday night in Los Angeles at The El Rey. Their show is to promote their new album coming out the next day. This has truly been an exciting week for me.
